Changing diaper isn't easy any more.

Anchalee(left) and Suwan(right) , 6 month old
It used to be so simple to change a diaper, I could just unwrap it, wipe the baby, inspect the skin and close it up. It isn't like that any more. Thing began to change since Suwan and Anchalee started to crawl when they were 6 months old. Most of the time during diaper changing sessions, the girls would turn, kick diaper off and crawl away. Now they're a year old, they would run off as soon as the diapers are out. It has been quite struggling job for me. I am the one who do the job most of the time and the girls know that. They seem to enjoy making me chasing them around like playing games with smiles on their face. Anchalee, the younger one, likes to run in to the bathroom and pees on the floor. I told my husband that it's time to buy her a potty.

What so interesting about this is that the girls don't make a fuss with daddy when he changes diapers. In fact, they would laughs and cooperate with him. This makes me laugh every time I see it.

I'm searching for a new strategies to make the girls focus during changing time. I've tried singing, massaging, rubbing the legs and toes and a few other things. They worked for awhile. The children these ages are so easily distracted. They just want to see and learn every thing they encounter. This diaper stuff is just part of my daily routine beside cooking, feeding and bathing my girls. I've heard that some people use duct tapes to secure diapers so that baby can't take them off. I can see that's coming in the future. My Suwan has already learned how to take hers off. I'm not looking forward to this part at all !

They can be naughty but they're sure cute and funny though.

First twins in the family.

Suwan and Anchalee at 6 months of age

That's right. Our daughters are the first twins ever known in my family and my husband family. We were very excited when we first found out. We named them Suwan and Anchalee. The names are Thai because I'm Thai and my husband wanted them to have Thai names, even though he is American. I wanted English or American names because they will make the girls' lives a bit easier. After a long debate between us, finally my husband won.

Suwan was born one minute older than Anchalee and she also has more hair. Suwan is more calm while Anchalee is a "wiggling one" (that's her nickname). Oh, I forgot to mention that I had a cesarean section at my 36 weeks of pregnancy. There were very healthy at birth. We brought them home on their 3rd day of birth.

I'm so glad to be able to share this experience with you. There are probably a lot of new moms like me out there that are doing the same thing as me but don't have a chance to express their feeling. This is a wonderful way to express my emotions and thoughts. I will just post some photos for now and I will add some more along the way. I am very happy to welcome these girls two my family and I'm sooooo glad that I've survived a year without going crazy. So far Suwan and Anchalee has been very good girls. They keep me busy but happy. Now, they start to interact more with each other. They love to turn on my karaoke machine and dance along with the music video. They like to imitated what I am doing such as putting my shoe on, carry my purse and using remote control.
It's getting late tonight, I should go. Love to hear comment from you.
Thank you,
Ratcha.
