Spider enjoyed a sunny day in a back yard
(She was about 14 Years-old here)
About 19 years ago, my husband and I adopted a little kitten who wandered around in the wood nearby and into our garden plot in Baltimore City. She was so skinny and barely managed to walk. We gave her some water from a hose. As we were getting ready to drive away from the garden, the kitten followed us to the car. She tried to tell us something. We had a dog in the car with us that day. My husband told the kitten if she wanted to come home with us she can hop right into the car with the dog. Surprisingly, she did.
We never got really closed to her at first. She came in the house to eat and she left for a day and came back again to sleep. She didn't know how to interact with human, I thought. She used to be so wild and independent. If she wanted food, she would scratched our legs to let us know she want food. She had stomach problem for awhile, but later resolved. I can't imagine what sources of food she found out there in the wood. We name her Spider.
Anyway to make a log story short. Spider became dominant and won over the dog every time they fought. She had baby kittens and lived her full, happy and free life that many cats probably wish to live. We allowed her to be an outdoor cat. She was fast and strong, catching birds and bunny when she was as old as 18. She spend last week mostly indoor because of snow storm and cold weather. She ate well but still skinny.
After 19 years of living with us, Spider died today at 1 pm. She couldn't stand up to eat her breakfast. She crawl to her litter box and laid there for awhile then she crawl back to the corner to lay down. She laid there from morning to afternoon and then she just passed away peacefully. "Will Spider come back after she died?" my younger twins daughter asked. "No, sweetie", I said. "That's how life is, you born then you get old and then you eventually die", I told both of them. "That's how life is", my 3 years-old repeated.
