(Suwan and Anchalee enjoy playing with their portable chairs during a picnic.)
I got frustrated when Suwan started to poop every time after I gave her a shower or a bath in the morning. Yes, shower. She loves to stand under the running water and opens her mouth to catch the water. Anyway, back to the pooping thing. Sometimes, she pooped in the shower right after she finished. Sometimes, she pooped right in a bath during bathing. The worst one was when she pooped on the carpet before I can put a diaper on. This also happens with Anchalee except she has peed instead of pooped. I got tired of cleaning up after poops! How many more poops I have to go through before they are potty trained? I have an idea that babies like to do their business with their bared bottoms. It makes sense since it seems so natural to them.
So, what is my solution ? May be I should get them potty chairs. I read that average age for potty train is about 3 years old. That seems to me pretty old for training. I can't imagine the amount of diapers I have to go through with these two girls. Hay, What ta heck!, I thought. I told my husband that I'm going to buy the girls potty chairs. He supported my idea and helped me pick out the potty chairs. We bought two very simple plastic potty chairs that are easy to clean. I let the twins play with them for awhile. They liked to sit on them and take out the inner container parts. Later that day, I hid the potty chairs in the bathroom with the door close. I don't want the girls to think that these are toys to them.
Sunday was the girls first potty training day. I put the girls on the potty chairs right after they woke up in the morning. They sat next to each other. To my surprise, Anchalee peed in it right away, but Suwan didn't. All day long, I kept putting them on the potty chair right ater their feeding and meal times. It turned out that no one has gone pooped that day. Anchalee did well, she peeped 3 out of 4 times. Suwan peeped 1 out of 4 times. Yesterday, Monday, Anchalee did both poop and pee in the pot. Suwan did pee and just a little poop. So far, I am pretty pleased with the results. I know this won't be easy and it probably will drive me nut!
I have twin boys who are now 4. They were both COMPLETELY toilet trained by 16months, and have never had an accident since. I am not some freak who tried to push it on them early, but they HATED when their diapers were wet or dirty and I introduced them to the potty and they loved it. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment Kolleen. This will help motivate me to work on training harder but not to be pushy.
