A Buddha Shrine Inside the temple at Wat Thai DC. |
I'm a little bit late writing this post because Thai New Year was on April 13, 2012 and the festival took place on April 15, 2012. We tried to get to the temple early as we could to beat the crowd. It's always been crowded there. This year we has quite a perfect weather for it. It was sunny and warm. Usually we would be walking in a mud. The food stands opened earlier than usual. There so many variety of foods to choose from. Finally we decided to buy some sticky rice, Isan sausage, bbq chicken for breakfast.

After breakfast, we shopped for plants - bought home some basil and pepper plants.
The girls wanted to go up to the temple, so we went up stair and take a peak at the crowd. The monks were there to bless visitors. The temple hall was filled up with visitors sitting on chairs and floor waiting to get close to the monks for blessing.

This year, I didn't feel patient enough to wait in line so we decided to came back home.
It was a short trip but was nice. We took a school bus provided by the temple back to the metro station where we parked our car. It was close to 11 am and the line of people who wait for the bus to get to the temple was way too long. But everyone looked pretty cheerful!
If you live in the area and would like to visit Song Kran Festival in April, you can check out the temple website at; www.watthaidc.org
